Blogging is one of the hottest trends these days. Be it a business or be it an individual, everyone is going crazy about blogging. While businesses are using blogging as a wonderful marketing technique, individual persons especially the young job seekers have found it as a very useful tool to enhance their resumes.
I have been going through a lot of articles which have talked about blogging and why it is necessary and I am pretty sure that many of you have already made your mind to set up a new blog this year. Well done! You are on the right track.
But what if you’re still unsure? Maybe you are a bit reluctant because you don’t know how to start a blog or maybe you’re afraid that you might not be successful at blogging.
If you’re looking for blogging tips or how to blog, you would find plenty of ‘blogs’ where you can get help from. But there are a few things which I think should be cleared out to you before you take up the next step.
Here are the things you need to know before you start blogging!
1. You don’t need to be a Good writer
Many of my friends had intent to start a blog but they quit the thoughts merely because they didn’t consider themselves as good writers. Have you ever seen a photography blog? All the blogger would post would be photographs. Did he need writing?
I’ve read on many blogs that a blogger definitely needs to be a good writer. It’s not a 100% truth. You can become a successful blogger even if you’re not a good writer.
Also, you would eventually start becoming good at writing once you start blogging. So, no need to worry about that!
2. You don’t need a top level domain
Getting a top level domain (purchasing a domain name and hosting space) is very much necessary if you’re looking to become a professional blogger.
But this is seriously not a necessity for becoming a successful blogger. I’ve seen many blogs hosted on wordpress or blogspot with domain names like ‘abc.blogspot.com’ or ‘abc.wordpress.com’ in the top search results of Google. I’ve seen those blogs in the best blog lists of many popular websites.
All you need is a good blog. Domain Name or hosting details doesn’t really matter that much.
3. You need the right intent
You need to be sure of why you want a blog and what you would be sharing in it. Also, make it sure that aim of blogging should not be earning money. Many people join the blogosphere while looking forward to make good amount of money. Almost 99% of them fail and actually quit blogging.
Don’t blog for money. Blog about your passion and money would keep running towards you!
4. Be Ready To Share
If you start blogging, be ready to share what you do with everyone. A blog without a personal touch is of no use. Neither is the blog which isn’t being shared and read is of any use.
You need to add your own personal experiences and opinions in your blog. You would need to share your blog within your social network and promote it so that more and more people read it.
I have a friend who has been blogging for a long time and when I asked him how come I never saw him sharing his blog on his Facebook timeline, he says he isn’t interested to share his personal life with all the people. Please, I beg you. Don’t be stupid and arrogant enough like that friend of mine (he was a friend, of course). Share your blog! Let others know that you’ve joined the group of smarter people.
Should you really start blogging? This video where I have talked about blogging might be helpful for you to take the decision. I’ve described a few things which you need to be a good blogger. Take a look!
